This could be you this weekend
Stuck for an event to ride this weekend? Here’s the BM roundup of all the events taking place this weekend.
Ones to ride
Merida Bikes MTB Marathon – 6 July
It’s back to Builth Wells, the events spiritual home this weekend for the longest running marathon series with the third instalment of the 2008 series. And despite repeated visits to this area of Wales, John Lloyd has been busy working on the course to keep it fresh and interesting.
The Long Good Saturday – 5 July
The Gary Fisher sponsored G2 Revolver is a three-part series of endurance races, and this Saturday heads to Stanmer Park, Brighton. The 8 hour enduro kicks off at 12pm, with much partying planned the moment the last rider crosses the line. Gary Fisher will be in attendance and heading the 29er team, and there’s the chance to win a Garmin Edge 705.
Trail Break – 5 July
The popular Southern Ride series finds a new location this weekend in Reigate, Surrey. Along with all the usual support we’ve come to expect from the guys at Trail Break (ull route marking, a colour A4 route map, free SIS energy drink, ride timing, full web results, emergency support and on-site catering), there’s a choice of distances and the promise of the inclusion of the best trails in the area.
SouthernXC – 6 July
The SouthernXC series continues and the fifth round takes place in Chawton Park Wood, Hants. This round also doubles up as the Southern Championships, so there’s lots at stake. The course is enclosed in deep woodland but also includes some very fast open tracks, tough draggy climbs and some fantastic bombholes.
One to watch
Mountain Style Contest – 4-6
If you happen to be in Châtel area of France, we recommend heading over to watch the second Châtel Mountain Style Contest. With some of the worlds best freeriders and presumably a kick-ass course, you’re guaranteed a good time – plus plenty of spills as the riders push their limits.
