Even more rides in Wales!

To complete our Friday hat-trick of lists of mountain biking events around Wales, here’s the latest set of rides from Horace at Hobo-backpackers. At this rate the country will be bald, but enough of that and we’ll let Horace have his say;

“Some of these rides are new for 2002, we’ve organised special rides and events for this coming spring and summer to include rides for all. From beginners to experts and the non-cycling partners!


For customised rides in the Valleys, Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains area send Horace an email with details of where you want to go, including number of riders and the type of riding you like.”

3-5 May. OTC level 2 MTB leadership training course.

18 May. Bike Maintenance Course, includes checking your bike before you ride to fixing punctures adjusting brakes and other get you home fixes.

8 June. Guided ride in the Brecon Beacons National Park. – Easy ride aimed at beginners. Ride at a leisurely pace in one of the scenic parts of the park.

15 June. Explore Little Switzerland – For those who like Mountain Climbing!

15 To 23 June. National bike week, week long bike events.

13 July. Guided ride in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Easy ride aimed at beginners. Ride at a leisurely pace in one of the scenic parts of the park.


20 July. Long distance ride (over 25-30 miles) with some big ascents rewarded by a great descent ending at a micro-brewery and pub. With lift back in the breweries dray!

10 August. Guided ride in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Easy ride aimed at beginners. Ride at a leisurely pace in one of the scenic parts of the park.


18 August. Guided long distance route following the Taff Trail. Starting in Brecon ending either at Merthyr or Cardiff.


24 August. The Blaenau Gwent tour. Long distance tough ride (30+ miles). Try this circular route, it’s a full day ride, using the bridleways of the borough. It’s the sort of ride epics are made of. Or use it towards charity fund raising events.

14 September. Guided ride in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Easy ride aimed at beginners. Ride at a leisurely pace in one of the scenic parts of the park.

19 October. Explore “Little Switzerland” this is a very hilly ride with very little flat ground. You’re either going up or down!
