In a move that will be welcomed by facial foliage fans everywhere, Ned Overend has ben officially recognised for his role in championing the moustache in pro level mountain biking.
Having taken his moustache to a World Championship victory in 1990 against a field of bald lipped competitors, he went on to claim 6 NORBA championships and several world cup wins. He even took his legendary lip liner to two X-Terra off road triathlon victories, only failing last year after inexplicably racing without his bushy buddy who was said to be “resting”.
Ned and his moustache have been an integral part of the Specialized company for over ten years, as well as an inspiration to countless bikers, and athletes – hirsute or otherwise. It seems fitting that he can now join the Bicycling Hall Of Fame ranks of clean shaven compatriots such as Greg Lemond and Johnny Tomac.
We understand petitioning is now underway for the recognition of Tinker Juarez’s unswerving commitment to representing the ‘Disco ringlet afro’ on the racing circuit.
