Regular forum slackers may remember a Dead Pool running in the soap box earlier this year. The idea was to gamble old worn out bike parts on which famous person was going to die first (the Queen Mum, as it happened). The original plan of sending these parts to the ‘lucky’ winner for them to build into a bike and then race, has fallen by the wayside for all the reasons you’d expect such a ridiculous project to fail, but there is still a weekend planned to celebrate the spirit of the project and it’s coming up soon.

On the 27th and 28th July anyone who cares to is welcome to meet up at Cannock Chase (where, by coincidence, a bike festival is being held that weekend) to join in the building and riding of the Dead Bike. The plan (if you can call it that) is to meet up at the festival, somewhere around an old Peugeot with a Kirk magnesium frame tied to it’s roof. Beyond that, we’re pretty much winging it. The only condition is that you have to bring an old bike part and something in the way of food / drink. If you’re interested in coming, let us know on the Dead Bike weekend thread in the forum.
