Beaumont heals battle scars

Scott’s literally been putting his feet up waiting for the injury to heal, and he dropped us a line for a progress report:

Hi everyone. I just wanted to write a quick mail to keep you all up to date with the progress. I had surgery for four hours to put the ankle back in joint and to plate and screw my broken leg. They also had to repair the damage to my ligaments.

I flew home two days after the accident and have been recovering since. Last week I had to go back to hospital to have 50 staples removed from my leg. I have two cuts up my leg from my anklebone to mid way along my lower leg, from the surgery.

After the staples had been removed I started to move my foot. It was such a good feeling to know that it was back in place and working. It had been on my mind for the two weeks since the crash, so to see my foot move and to know that it felt right was such a relief.

At the moment the cast will be taken off in two weeks time. I am unsure as to whether I will ride in the World Championships, but that is my goal. We will only know once the cast has come off and I start to use my foot again. I have still been training though. I have been doing upper body weights and my doctor said it would be OK to ride my bike slowly to keep my leg moving. So I have been just riding for 30 minutes a day for the last week. Yesterday I also had a ride on my motocross bike just up and down the road outside my house. I have been so bored watching TV that I just had to get out and do something. So my dad stated the bike and I went for a ride!!!

Anyway, I will keep you all informed of the progress.

Till then, laters

Scott
