Heading up to (or down depending on where you live) Dalby Forest today for the UCI World Cup? If so, there’s plenty happening in host town Pickering, here’s a roundup of the fun activities taking place.
Music and shopping
It’s business as usual tomorrow in Pickering, but with a whole lot more exciting things kicking off in the early afternoon. Make sure you get to Pickering early to sample the local shopping experience and get involved in all the street entertainment starting from 2pm. Acoustic musicians will be playing throughout the town, playing a range of styles from medieval to modern folk pop. There will also be a community market, situated on Smiddy Hill from 2pm with a great selection of cultural stalls to browse round.
The Retro feel
Local dance group Dancetastic will entertain the crowd while they’ll be a procession of bikes through the ages on show to the crowd. 70’s and 80’s favourites, retro mountain bikes and some modern classics will all be on display – just before the start of the racing at 6pm. Minster FMwill also be broadcasting live from Pickering throughout the afternoon.
Animal Relentless Freestyle Bike Tour
Pro Sprint Eliminator riders will start their training at 5pm, while the Animal Relentless Tour entertain the crowds on Market Place with their tricks and skills.
Pro Sprint Eliminator
6pm: Time trial round, -riders complete a lap of the course against the clock to seed the first round.
7pm: Elimination rounds commence – riders battle it out in this knockout event right down to the finale!
8pm: After the racing, local bands will perform at the bottom of the market place to keep the crowd entertained into the evening.

Four Piece rock band. Jake D’Alquen, Ashley Ward, Mike Harding and Andy Wardell playing classic rock covers from AC/DC, Queen, Pink Floyd etc
