CLIC24, the UK’s most popular 24-hour charity event, will celebrate its 10th anniversary on the weekend of May 14-15.
Having raised nearly £333,000 for children’s cancer and leukaemia charity CLIC Sargent, CLIC24 returns for 2011 aiming raise a further £50,000.
This year’s event will see the introduction of six and 12-hour rides, alongside the original 24-hour race, to inspire more mountain bikers to take part.
CLIC24 organiser Neil Wilkins said: “2011 is a real milestone for CLIC24, not only because we will have been doing this for a decade but because of the way mountain bikers and their families use it as a celebration of the very essence of our sport.
“The positive and rewarding nature of endurance riding, and particularly over a full 24 hour period, reflects many of the challenges faced by those whose lives are affected by cancer.”
“We appreciate that not everyone who wants to be part of the event has the stamina and commitment to ride for 24 hours so this year we are opening it up to everyone.”
Organisers promise the usual top-notch facilities and free family camping, as well as entertainment and improvements to the ten-mile course.
