Now in its fifteenth year, the CATS MBC Friday Night Summer Series is one of the longest-running XC series in the country. It’s based in the east Midlands, with venues in Northampton, Market Harborough, Milton Keynes, Rugby and others.
The emphasis is on accessibility and reasonable cost – no race license required, just a bike and a helmet. Anyone over the age of 12 can take part. Entry fees are £6.50 in advance or £8 on the day. Enter the whole series in advance and you’ll get the last round for free. That’s the one at which the overall series prizes will be given out, and there’ll be an end-of-series BBQ too. There’ll also be cash prizes awarded at each round.
Organiser Neil Holman says, “We have every ability taking part, from first-timers on £99 specials to the top flight – two-time Masters World Champion Vic Barnett, Elite riders Adrian Scott and Scott Rose and enduro specialists like Rob Lee.”
Further details at entry forms at www.catsmbc.com. Entry forms are also available at www.numplumz.com or in good old treeware format from most bike shops in the series area.
