The British Mountain Bike Series reaches its 2011 halfway point on 11/12 June as the stunning setting of Wasing Estate hosts the third round of this year’s series.
Introduced as a race venue in 2010, the 4000-acre private country estate will see the country’s finest and fastest racers flock to take part in this UCI Cat2 race.
Ahead of 2012, Britain’s leading contenders for Olympic team places will be battling it out around the carefully designed and demanding 6km course with Liam Killeen, Oli Beckingsale and David Fletcher already confirmed alongside a host of other top name riders.
The women’s race will feature under 23 National Champs Lily Matthews, Irish champ Cait Elliott and stars of the cyclocross world as American Amy Dombroski travels over to take on Britain’s own Nikki Harris and Gabby Day.
Places are filling fast and with no entries allowed on the day, the deadline of Thursday 9th June is a key date for your diary. You don’t want to miss this one!
To pre-register, visit www.britishxc.com for more information and to confirm your place for what is set to be a classic weekend of racing.
All riders will benefit from free neutral support from Weldtite, free onsite camping is also available for riders and their families from the Friday night.
The growing team arena will include Accelerade, Giant, Weldtite, Trek, GT, WXC World Racing, Orange Monkey-Cannondale, Cycleshack, Torq, AW Cycles and Scott. Spectator admission and parking is free.
Wasing Estate is very easy to find being located just five minutes from J12 of the M4 at Aldermaston. For Sat Nav users the postcode is RG7 4NG and more information can be found on the venue website at www.wasing.co.uk.
New for 2011, the younger members of the family can also now get involved in the racing and emulate their XC heroes and heroines. British Cycling will be running free to enter Go-Ride Races for children. With categories for U12, U14 and U16 riders, these races are pure ‘entry level’ races for those new to the sport and who want to try it out in a fun and friendly atmosphere. This feature got a huge reaction at the earlier rounds at Sherwood Pines and Dalby, with kids queuing up to take part alongside some very proud and somewhat entertained parents.
More information about the race weekend and the Go-Ride children’s races can be found at www.britishxc.com.
