Red Bull Rampage is ready to return bigger and badder than ever for its sixth edition in October where Brandon Semenuk will look to defend his title from 2008.
The event is the final furlong on the 18-stop Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour, which Semenuk currently leads.
But the Canadian must battle back from an injury sustained from an ill-fated back-flip at Crankworx in August if he is to feature in Utah.
Yannick Granieri could pip Semenuk to the overall crown, while Cameron Zink is also well placed to seize upon the Canadian’s misfortune.
Twenty-five riders will take on two runs of the Red Bull Rampage course, which covers 1,500 vertical feet and sees the return of the 60-foot canyon jump, on Friday October 1 before the top ten move on to Sunday’s Super Final.
Here they will join the top 15 finalists from 2008, with winner Semenuk, Zink, fresh from his Crankworx victory, and defending best trick champion Thomas Vanderham all set to appear.
Competitors will be judged on style, amplitude, fluidity, and difficulty of line. In addition, the athlete who throws down the most amazing trick during the finals will also be presented with a Red Bull Rampage Best Trick award by the Utah Sports Commission.
