Biking nirvana has returned to the Borders. Glentress forest, just outside
Peebles, has now opened again. Inside this wee gem of a forest is arguably the
Forestry Commission’s best XC mountain bike route in Scotland. Loads of great
singletrack linked with the odd bit of fire road. Small jumps, tabletops, it’s all there.
Bikers will need to disinfect their bikes before and after visiting the forest.
All the necessary equipment to do this is at the FC yard on the left before you
get to the ticket machine. Be patient at the weekend though as the queue may be
pretty big. Make sure you clean the bike!
Other Borders’ forests are still closed until further notice but unless you are right into the Downhill scene at Innerleithen, also a couple miles from Peebles, then the best biking is still the best at Glentress.
