Jungle, the importers of Santa Cruz bikes, have just announced a small but very beautifully formed three-strong team who’ll be riding their bikes in 2001.
Look what Santa’s bringing this year! |
Top XC, Cross and Road Racer Chris Young (right) of Team Marie Curie, will be campaigning on and off road for Santa, hoping to clean up in what races eventually get run this year.
Helen Gaskell (centre) will be joining the squad on the downhill side after a great year riding for Hope last season. Meanwhile top Polaris and mountain bike orienteering world cup contender, John Houlihan, (left) is saddling up a brand spanking new Superlight for competitions of an epic nature.
Unfortunately they haven’t given him a new road bike so next time we’re out training with him we’ll still have to put up with the tortured noises his pink and purple floral flyer groans out from under the festoons of gaffer tape, lights, mudguards and other assorted pig iron that’s it’s gathered over the years. Actually it’s not so much the noise, it’s the fact he still leaves us standing that really upsets us.
Anyway we wish them best of luck for the season and we’ll be badgering them for race reports from all the major events throughout the year.
For more information on the Santa Cruz bikes they’ll be using (Roadster, Superlight, Super 8) then have a rummage about on the newly overhauled Stif website.
