24 Hours of Exposure

The winners jersey has been unveiled

24 Hours of Exposure will be the UK’s first solo 24 hour event and will take to the trails of Rock UK, Whithaugh Park, Newcastleton on 22-23 May 2010, with the UK Solo MTB Championship title at stake.

24 hour soloing is one of the most popular categories in the world of endurance racing and the organisers aim to provide a tailor made opportunity for riders to pit themselves against their peers, the elements and whatever the mountain bike gods deem fit to throw at riders in pursuit of their goals.

For the winner in each category there will be an exclusive specially designed championship jersey along with a handsome prize purse, as well as a few random spot prizes thrown in. And that jersey has now been finalised, with event sponsors Morvelo today unveiling their chosen design for the winners jersey.

With the jersey design finalised the UK’s first ever solo 24 hour mountain bike championship is certainly gathering pace, with lots of great sponsors coming on board to make the event bigger and better.

Title sponsor Exposure Lights has a unique deal for competitors which means you’ll be able to train with the lights in the weeks leading up to the event as well as use them during the event, a sort of try before you buy. If you don’t like them, then you can hand them back having just paid the hire fee. If you fall in love with them, then they’re yours for a special event price.

Don’t think the event is for seasoned 24 hour racers, the organisers are keen to stress that beginners are more than welcome. In fact, there’s even a special ‘Morvelo Rookie’ jersey, trophy and prize for the highest placed rookie rider.

The format of the event will see riders signing on in Newcastleton village square, where you’ll be introduced to the crowds, before heading over to the start line. The race will then proceed through the village, before being unleashed on the course proper and the race gets underway in earnest.

There’ll be neutral trackside support for all, and the sponsors will each provide extra assistance. Whether it’s a hot drink to stave off the early morning chill whilst your bike gets a scrub, polish and lubing by Juice Lubes, or that extra kick from bottles of TORQ energy drink, maybe a couple of essential tweaks to machine and body, there will be help on hand.
