Base layers are one of the most important layers of clothing for cycling during the cold weather of the winter, and with that in mind Gore Bike Wear have just released a new range of Windstopper base layers .
Gore Bike Wear use man-made polypropylene in its range of layers, which it splits into two segments; those with a Windstopper membrane liner for windy days and those without.
The Windstopper base layers are the most interesting though, providing an extra layer of defence against the winter winds regardless of whatever layers you place over the top thanks to using the company’s special fabric.
In the range there are four base layers. The Base Layer (WS) Functional Shirt Long uses an elasticated and softly brushed fabric while the Base Layer Functional Turtleneck adds a high collar and long sleeves. The Base Layer Functional Thermo Shirt Long uses a heavier weight fabric for keeping you warmer on really cold days, but still low in weight.
They look good on paper, and we’ll be finding out how they perform when some samples arrive for testing.
For now they’re available from all Gore Bike Wear stockists, with prices starting from £42.99. More info at www.gorebikewear.co.uk
