We tested some of the new RIDE clothing earlier this year and were thoroughly impressed with the high value high quality shorts and jersey, so we’re anticipating similarly good things from the freshly announced autumn/winter range.
It’s all designed in the UK by people who ride bikes lots, with many years of combined experience developing, testing and selling clothing. They’re passing that experience on in their own venture which now expands to a Roubaix jersey, bib tights, skull caps, arm warmers and more.
When the guys at RIDE design and test their clothing the focus is normal everyday training rides, sportives and commuting. “The people who work at RIDE are not pro riders and neither are the people buying most cycle clothing,” the company tells us.
“The lack of a team car and not being able to ignore work or family to pick when to go riding means practicality, visibility and all-weather comfort is high on the design brief,” a RIDE spokesperson says. “Innovative ideas like zipped-waterproof smartphone pockets, IQ Seen reflective areas, Aquazero water repellent treatment and ergonomically shaped pocket access all stem from this focus.”
Some highlights of the this new autumn/winter range include the BDS Long Sleeve Roubaix jersey with new IQ reflective technology on the rear pocket to make sure every motorist can see you. There’s details like a waterproof smart phone pocket, zip garges, covered cuffs and a price of just £49.99. Styling is understated and simple, just the way we like our clothing.
For those wet and horrid days the Aquazero Pro bib tights look the business. The soft shell material insulates from the cold with a water repellent treatment keeping the rain and spray of mud from your wheels from freezing your legs. Add in a high density foam pad, silicon ankle grippers and lots of reflective details, and a price tag of just £54.99, and you’ve got a great bib tight to add to your shopping list.
