Fabric developments move forwards at a rapid pace, and the latest is one that promises to let you ‘wash’ it with just the power of sunlight.
The Wired.co.uk website reports of a new cotton fabric developed with the ability to clean itself of muddy stains and bacteria when exposed to sunlight, which sounds like a bloody marvellous idea to us.
How does it do that, you ask? Mingce Long and Deyong Wu from Donghua University treat the cotton with a titanium dioxide and nitrogen coating which can break down those stains.
How it would cope with the kind of stains involved with mountain biking remains to be seen, but it’s an exciting development.
