With the clocks changing at the weekend, we’re now well into autumn, and more worryingly it means winter is just around the corner. With that in mind, Sugoi has just emailed us with news of its Fall/Winter 2011 range.
Sugoi’s new Convector mid layers pieces use a brushed back fabric that is comfortable when worn next to the skin and is claimed to have excellent moisture transfer and thermal benefits, all wrapped up in a stylish design. The honeycomb knit surface of the fabric aids in moisture transfer by quickly dispersing the moisture across the surface
As we probably keep banging an about in our guides and advice articles on winter clothing, getting your base layer sorted is essential. Sugoi has the FinoCarbon range, using a fabric ‘infused’ with x-odour fibres to stave off bacterial build-up while the brushed underside transports sweat away from the skin effectively.
Of particular interest is the new Versa jacket (£70), which as you can probably surmise from the name is designed to be versatile. One way of tackling the changeable conditions of the autumn is to design versatility into a jacket, and this is precisely what Sugoi have done with its newest jacket.
It’s made from an Argon fabric; good for breathability and water resistance but the pièce de résistance is the fact the sleeves are removeable. Nothing new we hear you say, but here’s the clever bit, magnets are used to make switching the jacket into a gilet/vest a cinch. Arms too hot? Simply rip the sleeves off and stuff them in your backpack or pocket.
Further details include loads of Scotchlite reflective material to offer 360 degree visibility whether on the trail or weaving through traffic, full-length reverse coil zipper with guard, back ventilation and elasticised armhole binding, two front zip pockets and a back zip pocket
Sugoi’s RSE (Racing Systems Elite) ‘bib knickers’ – we’ll just call them ¾ length shorts because that’s what they really are – are brand new for the winter. They contain all sorts of fancy tech, including a ‘specially applied zone construction’ to support the body while still allowing complete freedom of movement.
Although not new for 2011, the Firewall Zip jacket (£119) has been updated, with new pockets and a reshaped fit.
If you want a super lightweight emergency jacket the 100g Helium Jacket is the answer, small enough to fit in a pocket when not in use it’s a good backup jacket if you want to travel light.
