Soft shell shoot-out: Endura vs. Sugoi

 1 of 4
Introduction to soft shells

There’s such a vast choice of winter mountain biking jackets that it can be confusing to say the least. So, in the first of our new regular gear shoot-outs, we’ve picked two soft shell jackets to put to the test. Read on for your full conclusion

What’s a soft shell?

Soft shells are fantastic as they combine the benefits of waterproof shells and the comfort and warmth of fleeces. So rather than wearing a fleece and a separate waterproof jacket, you can wear just one, reducing the bulk of your outerwear. Which in an active sport like mountain biking is only a good thing.

They’re more breathable than a rain jacket too, and more weatherproof than a fleece. Many popular soft shells combine two or three layers in a soft and quiet fabric that is comfortable to wear. And because they’re more weather resistant rather than waterproof but with vastly superior breathability, you can wear it more of the time. Less stopping to put on and take off jackets.
