At a bitterly cold Glentress last week Hotlines UK launched the Ghost Bikes 2011 range.
German brand Ghost first landed in the UK over a year ago, and in that time has steadily built a good reputation with many favourable reviews. Highlights of the launch included the all-new 100mm travel RT and the 120mm carbon fibre AMR Lector.
The AMR Lector is one of the bikes that has been well received, and boasts a bump-taming 120mm of travel from the Horst Link suspension system. Changes for the 2011 model centre on a tapered head tube, press-fit bottom bracket and needle roller bearings for the shock mounts.
An aluminium or carbon version is available with prices starting at £1,899.99. The AMR Lector pictured over to the left uses a full-carbon frame to reduce the weight down to well under 25lb with the £2999.99 build.
Looking for a more race-focused lightweight bike? The 100mm travel RT gets a major overhaul, and in essence appears to be a slimmed down version of the AMR with the same suspension system, tapered head tube, press-fit bottom bracket and needle roller bearings at the shock mounts.
There’s an impressive 12 model line-up for the RT, but we’ve picked out the RT Lector 9000 all-carbon model with Shimano XT, Avid Elixir CR brakes, RockShox SID RLT fork and Schwalbe Rocket Ron tyres as the one we’d put on out Christmas wish list. Not cheap at £2999.99…
On show also were a tidy selection of road bikes, such as the £1899 Race Lector Comp with a full-carbon frame and fork and Ultegra/FSA parts list.
