One topic in mountain biking that is guaranteed to get people hot under the collar is that of standards, sometimes it seems like there’s a new ‘standard’ coming our way every other week. The latest is a new bottom bracket design: BB386EVO.
The new BB386EVO (quite a mouth full) has been developed jointly by BH Bikes and FSA, which is claimed to be ‘stiffer than all current BB systems’. They’re pinning this new standard as the next step from BB30, first launched three years ago but only now gaining widespread acceptance from manufacturers and riders alike.
It continues the evolution of the 30mm spindle standard with an “eye towards expanded integration with frame manufacturers” to allow for “greatly enhanced stiffness and overall performance characteristics.”
BB386EVO design is an open-source solution, available to all in the industry,
