Enve Composites has announced yet another reason to go 29er, with their big-wheel XC rims receiving Universal Standard for Tubeless (UST) certification.
With 29er frenzy sweeping the trails and more riders also making the switch to tubeless on their mountain bikes, Enve set about ensuring the next generation of XC Clinchers were also tubeless compatible.
“Being the first to release a full line of carbon clinchers specifically designed for use in the dirt was a huge accomplishment,” said Enve founder Jason Schiers.
“The release of our new tubeless compatible XC rims is equally exciting as it embodies the original goal of optimizing composites for all aspects of off-road riding and racing.”
Along with the addition of tubeless compatibility, the new Enve XC clinchers include a progression of structural modifications to increase stiffness and strength without paying any weight penalties.
Available in 28 or 32 hole count, the wheels also feature Molded Spoke Hole Technology, allowing for higher spoke tensions and more durable wheel builds.
Engineer Kevin Nelson added: “Our investment in new testing equipment has strengthened our ability to take real world results and feedback, validate it in the lab, and then reintroduce it to the athletes and testers to validate any of the changes we had made.
“This process is very apparent with our new XC mountain rims. We took what we were learning from our test riders, and made changes accordingly. As a result, the new XC mountain rims are stiffer, stronger, and now tubeless.”
