Cycle Show returns to ExCeL

The Cycle Show’s move to ExCeL last year proved to be worthwhile – Cycle 2005 was the most successful ever. And with The Bike Show having bitten the dust this year, we’d expect Cycle 2006 to continue its upward momentum. We’re told that there’ll be 22% more floor space this year, meaning more room for exhibitors and features.

ExCeL appears to be making something of a name for itself as a venue for sport or sport-related events – last year it hosted the London Triathlon and was named as a 2012 Olympic Games venue for six events. Later this year it’ll host the Permanence of the Grand Depart of the Tour de France, meaning almost 5,000 people associated with the event, including world press and the organising committee, will be at the venue.

Cycle Show Director Mick Bennett said: “We are in great company at ExCeL and the rising profile of the venue means it is the perfect place for Cycle to grow. The Cycle Show is an unmissable event for anyone with any interest in cycling and with great features including the international trials competition and the mountain bike test track it’s a fantastic day out for all the family.”

Last year’s show attracted 120 exhibitors last year, and many are already back on board including Brompton, Chicken & Sons, Condor, Extra, Fisher, Jim Walker, Paligap, Rapha, Scott, Sigma, Specialized, Sugoi, Trek and WL Gore.

The Cycle Show has also been shortlisted for an industry award. It won Event Magazine Award for Best New Exhibition in 2002, and this year it’s up against the likes of A Place in the Sun Live!, Autosport International, Grand Designs Live and dog show Crufts in the Consumer Show of the Year category of the Association of Exhibition Organisers’ Excellence Awards.

Cycle 2006 will be at ExCeL, London from 5-8 October 2006. More details at www.cycleshow.co.uk.
