The 2011 RRP Midlands XC Series returns this Sunday with a trip to the Peak District for round two.
Birchall Properties, near Chesterfield, is the venue once more after garnering rave reviews on its debut last year.
Formerly an open cast mine, the venue was landscaped in the 60’s and is currently being transformed into a golf and leisure complex.
The start/finish arena may have been placed in an idyllic setting, but one look at the topography shows that there are a host of stiff climbs and slick descents waiting in store.
Round two also incorporates the Midlands Championships, giving the event ‘Regional A’ British Cycling points and status. Online entry is closed but riders can still sign-up on the day from 9am.
Camping will be available on the Saturday night, with a pre-race party, along with frisbee golf. Race day itself sees J E James Cycles providing bike tuning support and Sports Therapy Leicester providing leg tuning support for the racers, plus Polaris Bikewear and SIS Sports Nutrition will be in attendance.
There will be face painting and a climbing wall for to keep the kids happy, plus the local brewery will be on hand to keep adult spectators refreshed.
