The traditional XC race season might have drawn to an end, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a load of winter events vying for your attention. Such as the upcoming Merida Brass Monkeys Enduro Series which kicks off on Sunday 29 November.
It takes place at Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot, Hants, and organisers Gorrick MBC are working in collaboration with the Army and with support from a host of sponsors riders can expect some outstanding new venues especially chosen for their suitability for Enduro mountain bike racing.
The organisers are keen to promote the openness of enduros, suited to all abilities from those wanting to race and those wanting to race to finish. With that in mind there are 4, 2 and 1 hour age related time slots to choose from. It’s a series so all rounds will count, there will be a podium presentation of trophies on the day, with series prizes at the last round and also some cracking spot prizes.
All the venues offer the best course features to keep riders entertained and challenged, with fast flowing singletrack interspersed with fire track. Add computerised chip race timing, results system with position and time, commentary, photographer, Merida stand, trade stands, refreshments, toilets, water, bike washing, paramedic medical cover and ambulance, radio linked mobile and static marshals and plenty of parking, and you have the ingredients for a cracking event.
The event will be capped at 400 riders and with large numbers already pre-entering, it’s advised you don’t hesitate too long if you want to ride. Head to www.meridabrassmonkeys.com for full details on each round and to enter online.
