PRESS RELEASE: MOUNTAIN BIKING LEADER AND TRAINER OPPORTUNITIES Do you have experience as a leader of mountain bike groups? Then two opportunities are available to you during this coming autumn. OTC are looking for experienced mountain bikers to become part of the expanding network of leaders and trainers qualified through the National Mountain Bike Leadership Award Scheme. Additional courses beyond the Levels 1 and 2 leadership awards currently available include:
- Level 3 Award designed for mountain bike leaders who wish to take groups into ‘mountain and moorland terrain’.
- Leader Trainer Award which offers the opportunity to train and assess candidates of the National Mountain Bike Leadership Award Scheme and the National Mountain Bike Skill Award Scheme.
Both qualifications form part of the widely recognised and accepted National Mountain Bike Leadership Award Scheme which runs courses based in the U.K. and Ireland through a network of Accredited Centres coordinated by OTC. Candidates of the Level 3 Award should have a base of knowledge and experience in leading groups of mountain bikers equivalent to that required for the Level 2 Award, and should be capable of ensuring their own safety in ‘mountain and moorland terrain’. Leader Trainer candidates should have extensive personal and leadership experience within mountain biking, experience of training and assessing within the outdoor environment and should possess a broad and progressive outlook to teaching and assessing candidates of all abilities. Leader Trainers have the opportunity to travel and work in an enjoyable environment with a wide variety of candidates. The Level 3 training course is running from 28th to 31st October, with the Leader Trainer training course operating from 17th to 21st September.
