NAMBS results are in

The results are in for the first round of the NAMBS downhill
series, and this weeks big name on the board is my hot tip for the year Rob Jarman.
Rob, who rides for Stif Santa Cruz, cruised in to victory in the Elite category,
finishing in 2:11.56, nearly ten seconds ahead of his nearest rival Robin Kitchen,
Riding on Animal/orange with a time of 2:21.52. Third place went to Chris Whitfield
also on Stif Santa Cruz who finished a sneak behind Rob at 2:22.81. Definately worth
a mention at this point is Sam Furness’ time of 2:16.47 to take the Junior field
by storm.

The womens DH was won by Tracy Moseley, with a time of 2:44.82, nearly 7 seconds
ahead of Helen Gaskell on 2:51.76, and third place womens went to Karen Ballentine.
I spoke to Tracy in the finishing pen and she seemed disappointed with her run. How
much would she have won by if she’d put in her best run?

The Senior top three was the closest contest, the podium placers finishing within
a 1.6 sec space. First place went to Orange’s James Ryder (2:24.69), followed by
Mark Harries of Hope, Mark Jone of Team B.A.R. with 2:25.32 and 2:26.25 respectively.

Juniors had another day out proving just how quick they are with Sam Furness winning
in 2:16.47, which would’ve made him second behind ex-rival Rob Jarman had he have
been in the Elites – thats fast. Danny Harper (CTM Cyclesport) took second with 2:25.70.
The Clan’s Alan Blyth in third with 02:28.93.

Jamie Tomkins (Basejump), Mark Beaumont and Richard Cheetham (both Climb on Bikes)
headed up a strong youth field, with Jamie finishing in 2:26.87.

Paul French of Hope Technology cruised to victory in the Masters with a time of 2:23.97,
well ahead of Gerald Hodkinson and Darren Howarth who took second and third.

In the Vets category a small field battled for supremacy with John Walker beating
Paul Iddon and Pete Tomkins for the victory.

I will post the results on the uk’s newest DH site,
www.ukdownhill.org.uk
real soon (like tonight), or you can view the results at the Nambs Website @
www.nambs.freeserve.co.uk .
