The Linda McCartney road team has just announced that it will be co-sponsored by Jaguar for 2001 and beyond. This partnership completes perhaps the ultimate barbecue themed sponsor roster, with major support already provided by Linda McCartney foods and Jacob’s Creek wines, the team now have the chance to be whisked to and from their al fresco feasts in luxurious leather upholstery.

Speaking to the Pro cycling website
a Jaguar spokesman said: “We’re looking to get involved in the team and the sport for the long term,  and contribute as much to this team’s continued success as possible.”

“I think it’s going to be a very interesting year,” continued team manager Sean Yates. “This  will be our fourth year since Linda created the team. Her company’s faith in us has been the driving force (sic) ever since then, and now massive companies like Jacob’s Creek and Jaguar have recognised what an exciting and powerful sport this is.”

It’s also worth noting that the reputation of McCartney’s as “The Clean Team” may well be what’s attracting sponsors at a time when other investors are pulling out over continued drugs links.
