In case you’ve missed all the forum action (where have you been) there’ll be a whole herd of BIKEmagic members riding in the Peak District this weekend.
It’ll be a steady social over ‘proper’ terrain and everyone is welcome
Be ready to ride – ie not turning up in the car but on bike ready – for 10am at Fairholmes cafe / visitor centre / duck ghetto on Saturday and Sunday.
Directions as follows – thanks Jon
The car park is next to the Derwent reservoir, or technically just before it. Find the Ladybower Reservoir on the A57 which runs between Manchester and Sheffield or rather Glossop and Sheffield.
Just after, or just before the viaduct which carries the A57 – over the bit of the reservoir which sticks out under the main road is a turning to the north signposted for the upper Derwent Valley I think. It’s about 2 km west of the junction with the A6013 to Bamford.
Take this and go along next to the reservoir. Right at the end is a roundabout – beyond this point the road’s closed to cars at weekends – which is where the main Fairholmes car park is.
You don’t want to park there cos it’s pay and display, so stop at one of the free car parks before you get there, usually spaces in the biggish ones just before the main event.. Dead easy really.
For those determined to do it properly that’s GR 173 893.
See you there, and wrap up warm now.
