Specialized aim to patent winning in 2001

We already knew that Caroline Alexander had joined Silicon Valley’s fastest race team, but here’s the official team roster for 2001;

Filip Meirhaeghe (Netherlands) -Olympic Silver Medallist, two World Cup victories, four top ten finishes and 6th overall.

Bas Van Dooren (Netherlands) – Five World Cup top ten finishes, including one win; 2nd overall.

Marga Fullana (Spain) – Mountain Bike World Champion, Olympic Bronze Medallist, three World Cup wins and 4th overall.

Barbara Blatter (Switzerland) #1 UCI ranking; three World Cup victories and placed within the top ten in every race.

Elsbeth Vink (Netherlands) Three World Cup top ten’s.

Caroline Alexander (Great Britain) Two World Cup top ten finishes.

Undoubtedly a very strong team – particularly on the women’s side – but for one of the leading US companies, the complete absence of any homegrown riders is suprising.
