The popular Newnham 90 enduro will form the centrepiece of a full-on mountain bike festival weekend for 2004, with the addition of a host of new events, attractions, activities and a new sponsor. Hence it’s mutated into the Ultimate Pursuits Dirty Weekend (21/22 August)…
Centrepiece of the weekend will still be the Newnham 90 itself, following a slightly revised route with less road (and fewer road crossings) and more of the course within Newnham Park. All of the usual accoutrements (cream tea, pasta party, t-shirts etc) will be present and correct, with the addition of Shimano tech support out on the course.
Then there’s all the other stuff – trials displays from Martyn Ashton and an interactive trials area; something called Freecross – “an exciting blend of Bikercross with dirt jumping/freestyle”; dirt jumping apparently inside the main marquee featuring John Cowan, Timo Pritzel, Kyle Strait, Steve Geall, Chris Smith and more; the Shred Super Short Track XC, involving two minute, eight rider arena XC racing; a 2km night time trial with floodlighting; an expanded trade area and all sorts of other stuff.
Newnham 90 entry fees will be the same as last year and will include a weekend pass for all the other stuff. And don’t worry, you’ll be able to enjoy the weekend without having to race 90km at the same time…
Further details and entry forms will be posted at www.inevent.co.uk shortly.
