Last year the Trek 6-4-2 event was a five part series, but for 2006 it’s reduced to just the one event before being transformed into the National Marathon series. On Sunday 7 May, following the opening round of the National Points Series on the previous Saturday, Sherwood Pines will host the 6-4-2 Enduro.
A 10 mile course, mostly flat with lots of narrow bar-twanging-trees singletrack and flat-out fast fire road should ensure that the pace will be consistently high. The six hour race starts at 10am, the four hour at 12am, and the two hour blast at 2pm, with all the racers finishing together at 4pm.
For those into long rides and big miles, the six hour solo class will actually be the official Championship event for newly formed UK24 Solo Racing Club.
Expect all the top riders to be in attendance, including Commonwealth hopefuls Liam Killeen, Oli Beckingsale, Jenny Copnall and Sue Thomas. As an added interest, Saturday evening will play host to the UK premier of ‘Off Road to Athens’, a movie following the highs and lows as eight riders earn their places in the Olympic XC event.
Price is £20 for all categories. Visit www.XCracer.com for an entry form.
