Once again this weekend sees a burst of trailbuilding activity. First up, there’s work happening on the Penhyddh (formerly 9feet.com) trail at Afan Argoed to build a short new section to take the trail away from a stretch of waymarked road. Afan trail coordinator Russell Burton and his team are taking some time off from working on new trails elsewhere in the valley to do the work, but they haven’t got long and could do with a hand. So if anyone’s available tomorrow, Friday 28 February, give Russell a call on 07785 268620 or contact Afan MTB Ranger Nick Murfin on 07789 926556.
Then on Sunday (2 March) there’s a Chase Trails trailbuilding day at Cannock Chase. Kick off is 10am at the Birches Valley Visitor Centre, but they’ll be working until mid-afternoon and volunteers are welcome to drop by when they can. Ask for directions in the cafe if you’re late, or call Stuart Tite on 07949 111302. If you’ve got tools, bring them, and some lunch would be a good idea too.
The Chase Trails group will be setting up a weekly building ride every Sunday, plus some Saturdays and evening work once daylight permits. Further details on www.chasetrails.co.uk.
