Torq Roughride endurance event in the Welsh borders

The Torq Roughride endurance mountain bike event has been running now longer than we can remember, and heads to the wee town of Kington, Herefordshire on 27 May.

Over to the organiser, Jeremy to tell us more about the event:

“Set further down the welsh border than Torq’s headquarters, 2012 sees the tenth Roughride take place from the tiny town of Kington in Herefordshire; great beer and cider,  good value pub and cafe grub, a scenic campsite and a proper offroad challenge.

“The  event has first class marshal support. Two routes of 45 and 75km. Depending on how you feel you can choose which route when they split after an hour or two.

“It’s an offbeat event, difficult to pigeonhole. The course runs on centuries old tracks and paths bypassed by  modern times, the views are stunning, and  a lot of riders take a pretty relaxed approach to what is quite a tough route, stopping to take in the views and wait for their mates and have picnics. The ethos of the event is relaxed enjoyment and not a manic head down subserviance to fast times.”
