Sunday 29 June sees the eighth year of the Big H charity bike ride in aid of childrens’ charity Norwood, the Down’s Syndrome Association and the Southern FM Childrens’ Charity. It being the Big H, the route runs from Hampton Court to Hove, passing through Hinchley Wood and Headley (plus a few other places that don’t begin with H) en route.
It’s a scenic 60 mile route (there’s also a 30 mile option) on generally quiet country roads. The route is fully marshalled, and there’ll be mechanics, first aiders, motorcycle outriders and all the rest of it on hand so it should be a safe and fun day out.
Entry fees are £20 for the 60 mile route or £15 for the 30 miler. And of course you can if you wish get people to sponsor you to complete the ride.
You can even get involved without having to ride anywhere – the organisers are looking for volunteer marshals. So if you’re off the bike for some reason or can’t quite face the distance but would quite like to spend the day in the sunshine around lots of cyclists then they’d love to hear from you.
For information on how to register for the ride, or volunteering to be a marshal, call 020 8420 6944 or visit the Big H website – www.bigh.org.
