For the first time ever the Scottish Mountain Bike Leaders Association’s (SMBLA) Trail Cycle Leader (TCL) Award training
will be available in the Alps. Flowmtb have teamed up with Jules Fincham of Cycle Wild Scotland to offer this groundbreaking holiday from the 9-16th of June 2007.
The TCL gives riders the skills and knowledge to lead groups of mountain bikers, be they paying clients or friends; and qualifies you to lead groups of up to 6 riders throughout Scotland and the UK. Even if you’re not intending to work as a
guide, you’ll gain a lot from doing the TCL. As well as improving your bike handling skills you’ll learn more about navigation, crisis management and bike repairs. All this can come in pretty handy when riding with a group of mates.
Guy Bowden of Flowmtb said ‘We’re really excited to have Jules Fincham running this course with us. He taught us everything we know, and can now pass that knowledge on to even more people on amazing Alpine trails.’ Jules Fincham of
Cycle Wild Scotland said ‘I’m stoked to be involved in bringing the SMBLA training to the Alps. I’m looking forward to a great week of riding as well as the training.’
Jules Fincham is one of the UK’s top outdoor adventure coaches. A senior tutor with the Scottish Mountain Bike Leader
Association, Jules has worked closely with the SMBLA since the Association’s foundation and is a member of the working
group for development of skills coaching.
Flowmtb are a mountain bike specific holiday company, based in Morzine. With extensive local knowledge, they know the
best local trails, pubs and bike shops, as well as how to make great post-ride cake.
As well as the two days of TCL training there are a further four days of rides organized by the flowmtb staff and Jules.
You’ll be shown some of their favourite trails, taking in the flowing singletrack and amazing views. Group maximums will be
kept at six, instead of the TCL training’s usual eight to make sure all guests get as much out of the training as possible.
Guests will stay in the beautiful Chalet La Musardiere with breakfast, afternoon tea and a three course dinner with wine or
beer. A packed lunch is also provided.
