SheCycles intro to track riding

Rebecca Charlton

Track riding is one of the most exhilarating experiences you can have on a bike and arguably the purest form of cycling. Here’s your chance to give it go!

SheCycles has booked Newport Velodrome for our exclusive use on Saturday 31st March from 4pm to 8pm.

The aim of the track session is to provide riders with the knowledge and technical skills to ride on the track for training and potentially even racing. At the session there will be an opportunity to meet a range of friendly experts who will help you get the most out of your bike and time on the track.

Janet Birkmyre
Including:
  • Courtney Rowe, a fully qualified BCF coach and manager of the Newport Velodrome. He has been responsible for Katie Curtis’ selection for the GB squad and has a spent a great deal of time with women and girls at all levels
  • Janet Birkmyre, 5 x Masters World Champion (points, sprint, pursuit, 500TT) Masters World Record holder for the 500TT and a medallist at the last two Track National Championships. Janet has been competing on the track for 3 years and she will be happy to talk to you about how she got started.

Demand for our events tends to outstrip availability, so if you want to take part, please let us know as soon as possible and we’ll reserve your place.

There will be separate groups of various standards, each with a dedicated coach:

  • Complete track virgins and novice women (women only)
  • Intermediate/advance track riders (mixed group)
