The RUSS Appeal distributed nearly £14,000 to the Air Ambulance with each of the 20 regions receiving a significant donation. The money raised equates to fourteen life saving flights and will help to ensure that these vital missions continue.
The funds raised consist of RUSS Appeal T-shirt sales, and direct donations from mountain bikers. This includes a significant donation from Bob Fox the CEO of Fox Racing Shocks, Bob has been following the Russ Appeal with interest and said: “The RUSS-Appeal is a first-class cause named after a first-class guy, and I am pleased and honoured to be able to contribute to it.”
The RUSS Appeal was created following a serious mountain biking accident that befell Russell Pinder in the Welsh Mountains in March 2003. The organisation began when he and his family asked that all donations or “whip rounds” be directed to the Air Ambulances who lifted Russ to safety.
Since 2003 the Appeal has raised and donated over £50,000 to the Air Ambulance in the name of UK mountain bikers.
