Renault have just unveiled a version of their family Pope-mobile, the Kangoo, aimed at, among others, mountain bikers. The new model is called the break’up – presumably as an indication of what will happen to your marriage if you go riding too much – and incorporates a 4WD system along with special, bike-friendly features. Basically it’s a van with the ‘bloody doors blown off’ to create a kind of pick-up effect.
As you can see by the photos, bikes slot neatly and aerodynamically behind the main cab, held in place by an integrated racking system. A strap on the rear window holds the front wheel, clamps on the floorplan hold the rear wheel, and arms on either side support the frame. Anti-theft locks are incorporated into the design.
Altercations with the law are can be avoided thanks to the unobscured number plate and lights. If that’s not all, there’s an easy wipe-clean interior, sat-nav and ‘Buttercup Yellow’ paintwork. Mmmm.
