Open5 heads to Peak District on Sunday

Some controls can only be accessed by foot…
…while others require pedal power

Open Adventure are hosting a five hour adventure race through the Peak District this Sunday, March 6.

The event is the fourth of the Mountain Hardwear Open5 Winter Series and is open to solo racers and pairs over the age of 18.

Open5 events take place over five hours, where you have to visit as many controls as you can on the map – some can only be collected by mountain bike, others by foot.  Each control is worth varying amounts of points, with the winner the rider who has amassed the most at the end of the race.

Adventure racing requires careful planning to ensure you maximise the number of controls you can get to, while avoiding a penalty for arriving back late.

The event HQ is at the Bakewell Agricultural Centre, with free parking by permits issued at registration for the event. There will be prizes on the day from event sponsors Mountain Hardwear for the top spots in all categories.

Entries are still open, so if you fancy giving it a go visit the Open Adventure website at www.openadventure.com for more information.
