If you’re not racing at this weekend’s Saab Salomon Mountain Mayhem, then we’re afraid that this news item will be of limited interest to you. Sorry about that. If you are, though, then the presence on-site of the trained professionals of Active Physio Clinics may well be of great interest to you. Repeated laps of an off-road course, possibly (whisper it) in inclement conditions and at night in the cold can take their toll on the poor old (some older than others, admittedly) human body. But Active Physio Clinics’s Sabreen Qureshi says, “We can keep you going throughout the race with a 24 hour service of physiotherapy and massage to deal with those niggles, aches and pains that can affect your performance, or worse, stop you all together.”
The list of things the team can sort out is impressive: back pain, tight muscles, sore knees, neck and shoulder pain, forearm and wrist pain, buttock pain, hamstring pain, calf pain and cramps (particularly a problem at night), tension headaches, RSI problems, arthritic joints… If you don’t find yourself with at least one of those over the weekend then you’re clearly some sort of cyborg.
Between them, Sabreen and colleagues Lindsay and Richard have over thirty years of experience both in medical practice and with elite athletes – they know their stuff.
They’re charging £15 a session or three sessions throughout the race for £30. Because there’s only three of them you’ll need to book in advance, or to put it another way, now – you can contact Sabreen on 07801 163512 or email [email protected].
