We’ve just had the following news from Martyn at the Newnham 90:
First the bad news…
Unfortunately for various reasons beyond our control we are unable to offer the full 1 loop 90k route as originally planned. What we can offer is a 90k route consisting of a two loops of the 45k route which will include Newnham Park, neighbouring forest, and private moorland on the edges of Dartmoor.
This route will provide a challenging ride with around 40% on moorland and the balance in Forest Commission woods and private estates not normally open to riders. I’m sure some of you will be dissappointed by this (we all are) but the access issues with Dartmoor are insurmountable for this year.
Any rider wishing to withdraw from the event and receive a full refund please email us back by Monday 27th August in the first instance – this will allow me to send you a refund cheque instead of sending you the final details which will be sent next week.
Good news – the original 45k route remains untouched.
Other news …
Some riders have expressed an interest in getting a lift from around the London area – anyone in that area who would like to share travel costs, please let us know asap and we will see if we can put you together.
Bike Jumble – so far only a little interest for the Bike Jumble on the Saturday afternoon, if you want to clear out your shed of all those bits of bike rubbish (treasure for others) please let us know by September 1st. There will be a £3 charge for this to cover the cost of hiring tables but they can only be booked in advance.
Biker X – to add to your evenings entertainment there will be a top level Biker X event on site at Newnham on the Saturday night, riders confirmed so far include Dale Holmes (our newest World champion), Will Longden, Scott Beaumont, Dylan Clayton, Martin Ogden and many others. The action will include floodlit racing. This event will be free to spectate for all those in your party assuming they travel in your vehicle which will have the car sticker on display (being sent to all registered riders next week).
Pasta party – this will be free for all riders with your meal tokens being issued at registration on Saturday.
Arrival/departure – you will be welcome to arrive at Newnham from Friday evening onwards and Newnham have kindly agreed that those staying in the area for holidays can stay on site at Newnham until Monday morning – a map of how to get there will be sent with you final details.
Exhibitors – confirmed are MBR, KONA Ford Focus, Diamondback, Animal, 24/7, DMR, Halfords, Freestyle Clothing, Alltrax with more coming.
Well that’s all for now – don’t be afraid to email me back if you have any questions, or feel you would like to withdraw from the event.

We reckon it still sounds like a damn good event (though setting off on that second lap might not be easy), and we’ll see you there.
