A friend of mine who works at the Cumbria tourist board asked if I would mention their new website on bikemagic. Well, I decided that I would take a good look at it before I recommended anything! The good news is that the website is excellent, it covers the whole of Cumbria (not just the Lake District) and is equally split between walking and cycling. The site is already almost full, and I haven’t found any empty or broken links! The cycling routes included are a mixture of off and on road, including some classic mountain bike routes such as Threlkeld old coach road, Loughrigg / Grizedale forest, and the back-of-Skiddaw. Contributors include biketreks shop from Ambleside and Martin Bagness the map maker. Other links will provide you with a list of all the tourist information centres, holiday operators and external lakeland weather sites. If you’re planning a trip to Cumbria then check it out at the (not very snappy) web address of www.lakedistrictoutdoors.co.uk |
