Cross-country and downhill riders will join forces for the Monte Descend in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada on July 1.
The 90-minute race, on Canada Day, will kick-off with cross-country athletes riding from the foot of the mountain to the resort village.
There they’ll tag their team-mate, who will race back down to the bottom, seeing off jumps, ramps and a wallride.
The 50 two-man teams will then repeat the route for the remainder of the race, with the trails falling into darkness as clock ticks.
A $10,000 prize purse is up for grabs, with the winning team, those who complete the most laps, sharing $3,000.
Registration is now open on www.velirium.com and costs $40 per rider. A FQSC license is required, but can be bought locally for $20.
