2005 is the tenth year of Trail Break’s popular Lemming Trail endurance weekends, offering fully-supported two-day rides on two classic UK trails.
The South Downs Way Lemming Trail is the event that gave the Lemmings their name (it’s a cliff thing), and will have its tenth outing on 3-4 September. It’s 100miles along the famous long-distance trail, split across both days – there’s hostel or camping accommodation between the two. The package includes a full evening meal on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, route marking and support stations, luggage transport and features handy optional extras like lunch on day two and a coach transfer back to the start.
Before that, though, there’s the Ridgeway Lemming. It’s shorter at 80miles (50 on Saturday, 30 on Sunday) and the ancient Ridgeway isn’t too technically challenging, so it’s a good one for the less experienced enduro rider or a relaxed weekend for the more experienced. The overnight stop is at the Ridgeway Youth Hostel above Wantage, with a barbeque and drinks laid on. Trail Break will also lay on a spectacular sunset, it says here.
Fancy a go? Hostel places for both events are obviously limited, and the South Downs event in particular sells out fast. Head over to www.trailbreak.co.uk/lemming/ for more details, or call Trail Break on 0118 976 2491.
