Top Brit XC racer Liam Killeen has rounded off a great year by signing a new deal with Specialized for 2005. Liam will become lead rider for the Specialized Factory MTB Race Team. He’ll be focussing on the UCI World Cup, Commonwealth Games and, longer-term, the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
Specialized President Mike Sinyard said, “Liam is a tremendous person and an incredible athlete with massive potential. I’m so proud that he’s chosen to lead our brand to further success in our MTB race efforts.”
After an impressive year (World Cup podiums, a whisker away from the medals at the Olympics) the 2005 season could be the one that sees Liam make the jump up from nearly there to really there. His competitive debut with Specialized will be at the UK National Cyclo-Cross Championships in January 2005.
