Last year’s CLIC24 24 hour event featured what we might charitably call a “controversial” course. The short loop on the Mendip Hills contained a ludicrously steep hill that caused many riders to lose the will to live. Don’t be put off, though – for 2005 the organisers have gone back to the drawing board with a ten-mile moorland and forest singletrack loop. Organiser Neil Wilkins said, “This is the fourth year for our event and we’ve learnt a great deal about the experience riders are looking for. It’s a unique event and we’re excited to be holding this years ride in such beautiful surroundings and with some really great trails. We are going to see a lot more smiles this year after the torture we put riders through last year!”
CLIC24 has so far raised over £40,000 for childrens’ cancer and leukaemia charity CLIC. The 2005 event will be held on 14/15 May, with full site facilities promised. Entry forms are available now at www.clic24.org.uk.
