Only a few weeks before the Kona Bristol Bikefest 2008 gets going on the 7/8 June 2008 in the single track Mecca that is called Ashton Court.
Entries – Saturday 12 hour entry now closed
After a hugely successful year in 2007 the entries for the 2008 Kona Bristol Bikefest have been going from strength to strength, to the level that we have now closed the entry for the Saturday 12 hour event. There will be no day entries available for the 12 hour event.
But don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you can’t take part in the Kona Bristol Bikefest as there are still lots of entries available for Sunday’s 6 hour event. Same as the big brother on Saturday, you can enter the 6 hour event as teams of four, pairs or as solo riders. To enter simply go to the entry page download your entry form and send it through to us. Providing there are still places left (please keep your eye on the website) there we will be day entries available for the Sunday event.
Loyalty gift – make a proper riding weekend out of it
For all the keen beans out there who want to make the most of the Bristol Bikefest weekend – don’t forget the loyalty gift (worth more the £25) which you will receive if you enter both events over the Bristol weekend or if you enter an event at the Bristol Bikefest and an event at the Cheddar Bikefest on the 27/28 September. Even if you have entered the Saturday already you will still be entitled to the loyalty gift if you enter the 6 hour event now. Please don’t forget to mark you entry form for easy recognition.
Rider notes
To make sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible over the weekend we have now put the rider notes briefing up on the website. If you are in the event or just thinking of coming up to watch please have a good read of the details. You can find the rider notes on the homepage.
Event village
The event village is getting bigger and bigger and there will be lots of shiny stuff on show and for test. The guys from Paligap will have their CycleOps powertap wheels at the Bikefest and will give riders the chance to try them out over the weekend. Besides that we have the following companies showing of their stuff: Kona, Ritchey, High5, Cannondale, Cube, Bionicon, Propel, ZeroG, Merion Wool, Dodgy Gear, RAM, Intense, Maverick, Merida, Ergon, Yeti, Skoda, Upgrade, Tank Bikes, Rolling Resistance, Evolution, Osians Biking Holidays and Lapierre
The course
The last few days have certainly helped to dry the course out but together with the help of Ashton Court Estate and the Bristol Trail Group we will make sure that the course is in perfect condition for the event. The work will be focused on the sections in Beggar Bush and the quarry trails to provide the riders with the typical Bristol Bikefest course of swoopy, well flowing single track.
Long term weather
We know it is not the most trustworthy thing but the long term weather forecast is looking good. So with a little luck we will have anther perfect weekend for the Kona Bristol Bikefest like in the previews years. (The BM crew will be packing the suncream going on every previous year’s weather.)
