This weekend (5/6 July) sees the second Kona 100 MTB Marathon of the year, this time at Builth Wells. Registration opens at 12pm – the event village and start/finish area will be at White House Farm a few hundred yards from the centre of Builth. It’ll be signposted from Friday onwards. If you’re not arriving until later, registration will be open until 8pm and then again on Sunday morning from 7-9am. The start itself will be at 10.
If you entered fairly recently, it’s possible that you won’t receive a confirmation before the weekend, but the organisers tell us that so far everyone who entered has a place – just collect your number at registration. If you haven’t entered, there’s still time. You can enter on-line (sort of – you have to post a cheque) or there may be places available on the day. If you’re going for the latter option you’d be well advised to call John Lloyd on 01982 559223 to make sure that there’s room.
The organisers have prepared a course profile so you know what to expect. Riders have a choice of three lengths; 50km, 75km and the full 100km. Pre-event bike fettlage will be available from Halfords Bikehut and CVI, with Bikehut people at four of the service stations in case of on-course mechanical maladies.
Oh, and it says here that we’ll be there taking pictures of all (or as many as we can get) of the riders. So watch out for our camerapersons, and don’t forget to look fast and smile…
