TrailPlus, organiser of the ever-growing Helly Hansen Adventure Challenge Series, is looking forward to another bumper turnout as the Series finale heads to the Lake District later this month. The YMCA National Centre Lakeside will play host to the fifth and final event in the 2008/09 Adventure Challenge series, with over 275 teams of three slated to take part.
Also part of the weekend will be the first two-day Helly Hansen Adventure-X, a unique “adventure decathlon” that will see teams of three undertake a diverse range of challenges including sailing, orienteering, indoor climbing wall and a special assault course challenge. There’ll even be an “adventure biathlon” combine running with archery. Mountain biking, fell racing and canoeing are also included in an event that will see the winners leave with a cheque to the value of £2,500.
TrailPlus’s Event Director, Paul Magner, comments:
“The whole weekend will combine a number of firsts for our partnership with Helly Hansen. The first ever event in the Lake District, the UK’s first ever adventure decathlon and the first time cash prizes have been on offer too. With the support of Cumbria Tourism we have also be able to put together a fantastic package of free entertainment and activity on site at the venue throughout the Saturday and to witness the volume of entries from all reaches of the UK is a really positive development for the sport and reinforces Cumbria’s position as the UK’s capital of adventure.”
Entries are still open for both the Helly Hansen Adventure-X (28/29 March) and the Helly Hansen Adventure Challenge Series event (29 March). Both events are for teams of three. For further details visit www.trailplus.com or call TrailPlus on 01457 855425.
