Enormous on-line bike shop Chain Reaction has extended its title sponsorship of the National Downhill Series to put its name to the NPS Grand competition. The NPS Grand was kicked off last year by Elan Cycles, which put up £1,000 to be shared between all the riders who won their categories at all six rounds. That’s a fairly tricky task, but it worked out well for Balfa rider Danny Hart – he won the Juvenile category at every round in 2005 and therefore got the whole thousand quid to himself. Bargain.
Unfortunately Elan is no more, so the NPS Grand wasn’t going to happen in 2006. But Chain Reaction has stumped up the cash to provide the Chain Reaction Grand. And there’s only five events this year, so it might not be quite so hard to win. Maybe…
